Reale Book: Mentoring and Managing Students in the Academic Library

Michelle Reale ’96,’99M, Faculty Librarian in Arcadia University’s Landman Library, wrote a book titled Mentoring and Managing Students in the Academic Library, recently published by ALA Editions, the publishing arm of the American Library Association and one of the most highly respected imprints in the field of information science.

“I have been working with students for many years and have increasingly taken on a mentoring role with many of them, encouraging them in their own field of study and career plans, and more than a just a few are now pursuing a master’s degree in Library Science,” says Reale. “The work blends research with my own experiences. I am proud of the book because it encapsulates what I have always believed is of the utmost importance: our students. And it exemplifies that a campus job for some may just be a campus job, but for those of us who are privileged enough to work with students in this capacity, it can be the crucial relationship that provides confidence and consistent guidance to propel a student to the next level.

Find the book online. It is available for pre-order now and will be available in the fall.
