Group formed to support residents of 1600 Church Road. Find out more.

Overnight, a four-alarm fire blazed through several units of the condominium complex at 1600 Church Avenue in Wyncote, just a few blocks from the campus of Arcadia University. Many Arcadia University employees, in several different departments, responded quickly, working through the night to determine the safety and security of any students, faculty, staff and alumni who lived in the complex. Arcadians have also worked closely with representatives of the community to provide as much service as the University can to the community’s relief efforts.

Arcadia University is grateful to the immediate and professional efforts of the emergency response units and fire crews who were on the scene to control and fight the blaze throughout the night, keeping it from spreading to neighboring units, homes and schools. The University is thankful there were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Any Arcadia University student, employee or alumnus who is a victim of this fire and may need temporary housing should immediately call Arcadia University main number at 215-572-9000 or 1-877-ARCADIA.

All those affected by the fire should immediately contact and register with the American Red Cross and Montgomery County Public Safety at the temporary shelter in Cheltenham High School, or contact the American Red Cross at its disaster relief support number: 215-299-4889.
