During the second week in October, students in the University Seminar “The Role of the Poet in Society” will travel to Newark, N.J., to attend the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival. This is the largest poetry festival in North America, attracting poets and poetry lovers from all over the world. Staying overnight at the festival, students will experience a huge diversity of writing and performance there, providing food for thought and discussion as they explore the social functions, purposes and value of poetry and poets.
Campus Poetry Symposium on Oct. 23
The students will host a campus poetry symposium on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the University Room, Landman Library. The event will feature a panel of published or currently performing Arcadia poets and spoken word artists, who will share some of their work and discuss how they view their roles as poets in society. All are welcome to attend.
Are you a published poet interested in joining the panel? Submit your materials by Wednesday, Oct. 10.
