Arcadia University’s men’s basketball team (14-10, 9-8 MCOM) will enter the final day of the regular season with an opportunity to control its destiny and head to the MAC Commonwealth Playoffs for the first time. A win at Widener for the Knights, and they will head to the postseason for the first time since the 2005-06 season. Arcadia will tip-off against the Pride on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m. in Chester, Pa.
“We control our own destiny at this point, which is the best situation to be in,” said Head Coach Justin Scott on Wednesday. “We have two days to prepare for Widener and we are looking forward to the opportunity to play in the postseason.”
There is still a lot to be decided in the Commonwealth with five teams within one game of each other fighting for three playoff spots. Lycoming, the Knights, Messiah, Stevenson and Hood all have a chance to either make the postseason or be eliminated after Saturday’s action.
Alvernia will finish as the top seed and Albright will finish second. The fourth and fifth seeds will meet on Monday, Feb. 18, in a first round game at the home of the higher seed. The third seed will travel to face Albright and the winner of the 4/5 game will travel to face Alvernia on Wednesday, Feb. 20. The Championship Game will take place at the home of the highest remaining seed on Saturday, Feb. 23.
