Arcadia University is proud to announce that the Board of Trustees has approved the 2013-2018 Strategic Plan. The Plan provides the vision forward for the University, and is the culmination of an inclusive and transparent planning process constituting input and feedback from the University community—trustees, administration, alumni, faculty, students, staff and external constituents.

“This comprehensive Strategic Plan builds upon and reaffirms the guiding principles and core values that characterized this University for 160 years,” said Dr. Nicolette DeVille Christensen, Chief Operating Officer of Arcadia.

The Strategic Planning process was driven by the six core values that serve as the foundation of how the Arcadia community conducts themselves as individuals and form the character of the University’s culture—civility, diversity, excellence, integrity, intellectual freedom and stewardship. These values reflect the traits held dear to Arcadia, while resonating as the way the University conducts business as an organization.

“The dedication and speed with which the community completed this Plan attest to the seriousness and importance accorded to strategic thinking and planning at Arcadia,” said Planning Committee co-chairs Dr. Steve O. Michael, Provost of Arcadia University, and Dr. Theresa Rollins, Board of Trustees member. “The strong community participation greatly contributed to the development of a plan that echoes a shared vision of goals and objectives for the future of Arcadia University.”

The Strategic Plan is based on five central themes that address current challenges and target opportunities pertinent to the potential of Arcadia University:

  • Enhancing academic excellence
  • Strengthening a people-focused University community
  • Deepening the University’s engagement with external communities
  • Improving the University’s resources, financial processes and infrastructure
  • Committing to institutional diversity and global engagement.
