Dr. Maryam Zarnegar Deloffre, assistant professor of political science, was awarded a 2013 research grant by the American Political Science Association (APSA) to support work on her book manuscript, tentatively titled Transnational NGO Accountability: Constructing a Global Ethical Order. Based on her dissertation research, the book manuscript investigates how practices of global governance, specifically the accountability of NGOs, become legitimized. The book advances a multi-stage model of legitimation dynamics, which proffers rich insights into social models of global governance based on voluntary compliance. APSA’s Small Research Grant Program supports the research and careers of political scientists who are not employed at Ph.D.-granting departments in the field.
