Dr. Brian Eckenrode, assistant professor of physical therapy, published two chapters in the second edition of Lippincott’s Primary Care Orthopaedics—one on hip rehabilitation and the other on knee rehabilitation.
Eckenrode also completed two community service activities with students in Arcadia University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program over the summer. In June, he and five of students from the Class of 2014—Christian Barrett, Kelsy Eldredge, Traci DeWan, Amanda Ricci, and Will Wimble—volunteered with the Athlete Health Organization, which offered free physical exams, musculoskeletal screens, pulmonary reviews, electrocardiograms, and echocardiograms to middle and high school athletes. They performed musculoskeletal screenings at the School District of Philadelphia Headquarters.
In July, Eckenrode presented “Core Stability for the Runner” to a marathon training group in Philadelphia. The event included a discussion on running stability and marathon training, with demonstrations. Larry Devinney, Marguerite Emhoff, and Jason Sharpe from the Class of 2014 assisted Eckenrode during the presentation.
