On Sept. 23, Dr. Laura Conway, assistant professor of genetic counseling, presented “A History of Genetic Counseling Licensure in PA” at the Pennsylvania State Genetic Counselors Conference. Held at Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa. The conference was the first statewide gathering of genetic counselors in Pennsylvania. In addition to presenting at the event, Conway served on the planning committee alongside Kathleen Valverde, program director of Genetic Counseling at Arcadia. Out of the 100 genetic counselors that attended the conference, 27 of them were graduates of Arcadia University’s Master of Science in Genetic Counseling program.
In addition, she traveled to Anaheim, Cali., on Oct. 11 to chair the plenary session for the Jane Engelberg Memorial Fellowship at the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) Annual Educational Conference. Each year, the fellowship awards a $60,000 grant to a member of NSGC.
